benefits of eating strawberries. Did you know? Every day more than 2
tonnes of Strawberries are eaten with between 27 and 34 Tonnes being
eaten over the entire Wimbledon tournament. Wow.
It is shaped like a heart, its smells wonderful and the taste is super delicious.
The strawberry is not just good looking and sweet but it is also very
healthy and potent fruit that has many benefits to our health and that
is why its so popular today.
The Wimbledon tournament can’t go without them and it has become a
tradition to have fresh strawberries served every year to the spectators
that can enjoy both the tennis matches and this exquisite fruit as
refreshment at the same time.
It is rich in vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates, antioxidants and dietary fibres.
The vitamin C is most prevalent of all the vitamins and its very

Everfree Mondays – Wimbledon Strawberries Smoothie Recipe
To celebrate the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament 2013, we have put
together a Strawberry Smoothie. We are now in the second week of this
Championship, who will win?
Many people love strawberrys. This is because strawberries are scrumptious hence hard to refuse. Now that everyone has started focusing on the importance of good health and nutritional content of the foods they consume, it’s crucial to focus on the benefits of eating strawberries.
• The berries in question are very rich in vitamin C, an excellent antioxidant, prevents inflammation and gives the body a powerful natural resistance against harmful agents.
• A strawberry contains folic acids, pantothenic acid, riboflavin and niacin that are the co-factor vitamins that are very crucial in the metabolism of fats, proteins and carbohydrates.
• The berries have an ORAC content that has oxygen absorbance capacity.
• Finally, it has minerals like copper, iron, manganese, potassium and iron.
How to prepare:
To effectively wash the berries, put them in cold water for a few seconds and gently swish them. This removes any sand residue or insecticides.
Using a dry towel or cloth, pat the strawberries. This helps enrich the flavor and taste of the berries as well as bring them back to the room temperature. Finally, using your fingers or a paring knife, remove the stems and caps.
Wimbledon Strawberries Smoothie Recipe
There are many amazing combinations out there. Strawberries and bananas combination is the most popular; the outcome is very good. You can always take the smoothie with yogurt or ice cream.
Here are the ingredients used in making a smoothie recipe with strawberries
• Sprigs of mints
• A cup of ice cubes
• A cup of milk or soy, almond or even coconut milk
• 2 fresh but ripe bananas (if you want your smoothie to be thick use frozen bananas)
• A cup of diced and fresh strawberries (you can use frozen ones)

Method of preparing smoothie
• Wash the strawberries and then cut them in small pieces.
• Then using a clean knife cut the bananas into slices of about 1 inch.
• Put the pieces of both the banana and the strawberries into a blender. But remember to reserve a few pieces of the strawberries for garnishing purposes.
• To the blender, add your most preferable milk choice and the ice cubes. Gently mix the mixture until it is smooth.
• Garnish with the mint and the pieces of strawberry that you reserved and serve immediately.
